If you are looking for a book about mathematical modeling of biofilms, you don’t have many options anyway. “Mathematical Modeling Of Biofilms” is a well-written book including many chapters on different types of modeling. The book is written, to my taste, as an introduction book for researchers new in this field and does not go into the details of actual modeling algorithms.
You can find the soft copy of this book at the publications section of the biofilm group at TuDelft, or by clicking here.

Microorganisms commonly attach to any wet surface, including the water pipes, stones in the rivers and medical devices, and form biofilms made up of extracellular polymers.
In this blog I will try to deliver what I've learned during my doctorate studies on biofilms.

Due to my research field, I deal with organisms and structures that their natural environment is usually inside water. This book is a golden collection of phenomena occurring where life forms live inside fluids. Many topics are covered, more than you may need, including drag and lift, turbulence, and transient behavior of moving fluids due to presence of structures.
I highly recommend this book to researchers dealing with a mixture of organic life (biology) and fluids, specially to new-starters. It is a pleasure to read, even after several times, and each time I read it again I find a new gem inside.

Biofilms III conference was held in 2008 and several topics including i.e. methods in biofilms, reactors and mathematical modeling of biofilms were covered.
Once again I thank all of our guests and invite them to Biofilms IV conference in UK, 2010.
